This study uses a bibliometric approach with the VosViewer analysis tool to identify patterns of co-authorship, institutional collaboration, and co-emergence of keywords. The results of the study show stable research growth. The co-authorship analysis revealed a network of collaboration between authors and institutions, with Malaysia and Indonesia emerging as the main contributors, with the authors contributing the most namely Omar Mohammed S, Moh'd I.S., Saiti B, Bulut M, Korkut C.E.M, Dambele A, Omar Mohammed, and Mohammad M.O. Meanwhile, the organizations that have the most authors in journals themed Waqf problems are, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, University of Tunisia, Princeton University, and Department of Arabic Studies. Then, keyword analysis shows that the literature is dominated by fundamental themes that view waqf as a philanthropic and asset-based institution, while more recent studies increasingly focus on governance reform, cash waqf, Islamic financial integration, social entrepreneurship, technology utilization, and green waqf.
Amelia Tri Puspita Copyright (c) 2025 Islamic Social Finance https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/690 Thu, 01 Jan 2026 00:00:00 +0000 The Role of Agricultural Innovation Investment in Enhancing Food Security: Evidence from Yogyakarta https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/678
This study investigates the effect of agricultural innovation, proxied by public agricultural R&D expenditures and the number of agricultural researchers, on food security outcomes in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Indonesia. Using a panel dataset covering five districts from 2010 to 2023, the study applies the bootstrapped Least Squares Dummy Variable (LSDV) estimator to control for unobserved district and time effects and to enhance the robustness of inference. Food security is measured by per capita caloric intake, while innovation inputs are drawn from local government and agricultural agency records. The results indicate that agricultural innovation has a statistically significant and positive impact on food security. Among the innovation variables, the number of agricultural researchers shows a more consistent and stronger association with increased dietary energy consumption than R&D spending, underscoring the importance of human capital in converting scientific advancements into tangible outcomes. The findings highlight that even in regions with modest agricultural output, such as Yogyakarta, institutional support, knowledge dissemination, and effective extension services can enhance the benefits of innovation. The study recommends increased investment in researcher capacity and improved coordination among provincial research stakeholders to achieve inclusive and sustainable food security improvements.
Hapid Durohman Copyright (c) 2025 Islamic Social Finance https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/678 Mon, 15 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Predicting ZIS Institution Assets in Indonesia https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/688
The Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS) industry in Indonesia has a strategic role in supporting social development and poverty alleviation. Along with the increasing public awareness of Islamic philanthropy, ZIS industrial assets show a significant growth trend year over year. This study aims to predict the development of total ZIS industrial assets in Indonesia in the coming period by using three forecasting methods, namely Trend Analysis (regress over time), Multiplicative Decomposition, and Exponential Smoothing with Trend. The data used is annual data on total ZIS industrial assets for the period 2002-2018 sourced from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The results show that historically ZIS's industrial assets have increased significantly, from Rp68 billion in 2002 to Rp8,100 billion in 2018. The forecast results show that ZIS industrial assets are expected to continue to grow in the 2019–2023 period, despite variations in predictive values between methods. Based on the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) indicator, the Trend Analysis and Multiplicative Decomposition methods show relatively better forecasting performance compared to the Exponential Smoothing with Trend method. These findings are expected to be a reference for regulators and managers of ZIS in formulating policies for the development of the Islamic philanthropic industry in Indonesia.
Izanatun Najiha, Dwi Sintia Wiranti, Khofifah Pirda Utami Copyright (c) 2025 Islamic Social Finance https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/688 Tue, 30 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Book Review: The Silk Road in Anatolia, Roads and Caravanserai in the 16th and 17th Centuries https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/655
The book Anadolu’da İpek Yolu XI–XIV. Yüzyıllarda Yollar ve Kervansaray by Ali Kilci and Gökçe Günel is a historical-visual study that discusses the role of the Silk Road in the Anatolia region during the Middle Ages, specifically between the 11th and 14th centuries. Published by the General Directorate of Foundations under the Turkish Ministry of Tourism and Culture, this book highlights the close relationship between international trade networks and the development of waqf (foundation) institutions in Turkish history. The first part of the book explains the Silk Road routes that traversed important cities such as Erzurum, Sivas, Kayseri, Konya, Antalya, Bursa, and Istanbul, emphasizing its role in bringing together the Eastern and Western worlds. The second part details the strategic function of the kervansaray—caravanserais built and managed through the waqf system—as economic, social, and philanthropic infrastructures that guaranteed the safety, comfort, and continuity of trade along these routes. This book also displays the architectural and cultural dimensions of the kervansaray as a symbol of public service open to all, regardless of origin or background. Although not compiled with a deep academic approach, this work is highly valuable as an educational tool introducing the historical and cultural heritage of the Silk Road in Anatolia, as well as being an inspiring source for understanding the relationship between foundations, trade, and civilizational development during the Seljuk period.
Fathan Aulia Rahman Copyright (c) 2025 Islamic Social Finance https://journals.smartinsight.id/index.php/ISF/article/view/655 Fri, 24 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0000
